Curious Minds  –  Short Talks  –  Spirited Discussions

Science Pub RVA connects curious minds and creative scientists* over a sip of some sort.

(*and scientific thinkers including writersartists, and historians of science)

We do this by helping researchers communicate what they do, what they know, and why it matters. Then, in casual spaces where no science background is expected, we introduce them to folks who enjoy learning, but may or may not be “into science”.

72 alumni and more than 5,000 curious minds have “walked into a bar for science” since our 2012 start. In addition to working with individual presenting scientific thinkers, we’ve had the fun of working with great organizations including WGBH Education (producers of NOVA and other PBS shows), VPM, Virginia Commonwealth University’s Science Technology and Society Program, the Chesterfield County Public Library, and the Smithsonian Institute. Want to work together on growing your sci comm skills? Wondering about the possibility of collaborating on your team’s broader impact efforts? Hoping to present your personal research?
